Hey all, So as some of you know I am in the process of building a diy 180 gallon plywood aquarium, I am not going to disclose what will be in the tank, the only disclosure so to speak is noise is a factor, so this will be freshwater, can some of you share pictures of your overflow setups? I am not sure if I want to just run a canister or a sump and if I run a sump I am undecided as to running an overflow box or just 90's, because of the bracing design on the top of my tank, getting access to an overflow would be quite difficult, I am hoping pictures will help me decide

From what I have been reading I think it matters on what the tank is going to house. Also, if it's a FW or SW tank.

I'm in process of a 300 gallon now, going to do a 75 gallon sump, I have a 75 gallon setup now with a sump and absolutely love it, been trouble free for 2 years now with a cheapo pump and I only have $30 invested in it and that was price of pump, had all other stuff kicking around house
What have now, works great for being built in under an hour

look at my build thread. search all my posts on "beanimal", and "herbie". search google for Herbie style overflow.

If you want to take some time to do it right, your overflows can run silent as a graveyard, even with MUCH higher flow rates than 1500 GPH through your sump.

Not cheaper to buy a used all glass 180 as opposed to building a ply 180?
