You can place a sheet of plywood underneath the glass tank provided the molding is also on it. The wood will give the tank some insulating properties. And, if your intentions are to maintain a BB tank with species such as Polypterus, they need something visual on the bottom or they'll remain stressed.

I use the pads in the pic and foam exercise pads. I stopped using styrofoam years ago due to its propensity to split under heavy pressure. And, c'mon, a molded tank is a standard glass tank with the plastic edge guards (black or simulated wood). A non-molded glass tank is like the tanks from glasscages.
I use plywood and 1/4" corkboard on anything above 55g, it is soft enough that plastitic framing sinks right into it, but firm enough to add a bit of support to the bottom of the tank.
I bought 3/4'' plywood and 1'' thick styrofoam like insulation. Will this be O.K. ? thanks,
