Plywood?

If the tank is rimless glass, I was advised 3/4" plywood and 1/2" Styrofoam. There are varying opinions if marine plywood is actually better than your standard plywood for what we use it for. But I'd go 3/4" in what you go with. As for me, I use 3/4" MDO - Medium Density Overlay.

If your tank has plastic bracing, then I don't think Styrofoam is advised - in fact you will not want that flex/crush effect and should not be used.

I have 30mm styrofoam under mine, no wood, also a 500g. The styrofoam allows for "leveling" of any high points that may exist on the stand, compressing the foam in these area's without the glass cracking.

Where did you get your sheet of foam? The metal stand isn't perfect so the foam seems like a good safety

Live in a different continent to you, but I'm sure you'll find it in a Home Depot type outlet, you don't have to use a single sheet, mine are 3x1.2m pieces siliconed on top of the stand.
