i have a black and white female convict but i cannot tell if this is a male or not her keeps chasing my female so tommorow im gonna pick up either some target fish so they team up or try to snag 2 boys if this ones a girl. please help me

if there is orange on its sides its a female....no orange is male.

from that pic it looks like a male.

so do you think i should buy target schoolers to get them to pair up or try getting some more males?

What size tank do you have?

breeding pares get very mean...you don't want to many in a tank
he looks young..maybe give him and your female a few more months and see what they do?
do you have something to do with the fry?

well right now the pair is in a 10 gallon. a bit small but its what i have for now. im gonna feed the fry to a senegal bichir which will be in my 29 gallon as soon as the fry come

also he is tearing up the females fins pretty bad...

no more in the 10 gallon,

its a bit small for even two convicts, i would suggest upgrading to a 20 or a 20 long long term for these guys.

males can get very aggressive and will even kill the female, i would suggest separating them for now with a divider in the tank.

how big are they?

they are both about 2 inches

do you guys think they would pair up if i stuck a couple zebra danios in with em? i heard it makes them group up to defend territory. then i could use the danios as feeders for the bichir i guess
