Hey guys i bought a pig nosed turtle 5 days ago. He hasn't eaten since i got him and he just sleeps all day and night and isn't active at all really.
My water temp was pretty low (22-24degrees celcius) for the first 3 days because my heater broke and my local pet store were all out :irked: so i'm thinking the water temp could be the main reason but i'm really starting to worry as he hasn't eaten in 5 days and is not even half as energenic as he was when i first got him.

P.S tried feeding him algae wafers, whitebait, prawns, tomatoe

Ye temp but feed him
In captivity C. insculpta eats almost anything. Favourite items are of course different kind of fruits (bananas, figs, kiwis). But also trout pellets, "turtle pudding," dry fish, crab and clam meat as well as beef heart enriched with calcium can be given. However the diet should be balanced according to the digestive apparatus which is primarily built for herbivore food. Cuttlebone will be taken by some animals to improve their calcium metabolism.

How much longer do you reckon he could go without food? Just put some banana right infront of him but just sniffed it then walked away. The temps back into 26-28degrees now but is the damage already done?

Turtles can go weeks to months without food and will show very little signs from it. I agree, it's most likely the temperature.

If he is new to the home he will have to break it in first. But when he gets hungry he will eat. Just keep trying and remove any un eaten.

Thanks for the info guys. The tank is sitting at 28 degrees and he is more active and i think he may be nibbling on some algae wafers but i havn't seen him actually eat
