PNT Help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey guys,

Well the PNT ate for about 3 days but would only eat algae wafers. I tried strawberry, banana, kiwi, prawns, whitebait, figs, commercial turtle food but nothing and now his not eating at all :irked:.
The temp is within the 26-28degree range and water quality is great but he just doesn't wanna do anything :(. The only thing i can think of atm is that i use natural sunlight on the tank and no aquarium lights so could that be part of the problem? or do i have MFK's laziest PNT :(

How big is your pig nose turtle? Does it have any cover? Whenever we get little ones, they tend to hide alot, offer them some sort of cover and don't be bothering it (constantly passing by, tapping on the tank, etc...). I'm not saying that's what your doing, but just minamize the stress. Once he gets use to the surroundings, he'll be swimming around begging for food.

He is about 18-20cm long. It has minimal cover as i am in the process of setting up a bigger tank so it has bare minimum in it's current tank. He has a good 2inches deep of sand though.
He would be getting bothered alot because the tank is in my room and thats where i spend my a lot of my time so i'll definately look into getting him a nice piece of driftwood or something to hide behind.
Thanks for the help mate:D

Hi

Just stick with the algae wafers should be fine once it gets its apatite back it will go for other protein pellets but too much protein will cause it shell to start curling up. Also try green pea's. Keep the temps above 25degrees. A UV light is not necessary but some may say it helps. I find mine develop a bit of skin problems when they get too much UV light.

how big is it ? temp for sure , but they do require a higher ph when smaller !!

i use cucumber , massivore , aro sticks and his favorite is pinnapple !! keep trying ! water melons etc ..good luck
