Then it woud should be ok for a baker to refuse to make cakes for someone that clashes with his beliefs
well, my opinion personally, i think any independent owner of a business can sell to or refuse to sell to anyone for whatever reason they feel like. it doesn't bother me.
people getting their pannies in a bunch over this is funny to me. i simply don't get upset over stupid things like that. if you own a donut shop or whatever, and i walk in and you're like, i don't sell to asians. I'd be like, eh, eff you too then b****, and take my yellow ass to another donut shop. i wouldn't feel the urge to post it on social media to get you or call the local news to try to get my anger out there to be heard. i simply have better things to do, seriously.
for sure i'd let my fish nerds community on mfk know though, lol. that would be the extent of my actions
the whole discussion with the baker is a slippery slope. Again land of the free works both ways, to denie service for no other reason than some one beliefs can be seen as discrimination.
i'm not sure but my thought is, religion is protected, so if something goes against your religion then you can refuse a service as an owner
i really don't think it's against the law to be a racist either. so if you discriminate, nobody can do anything about it can they? i mean, it won't be a smart thing to do for your business but you sure can do it if you choose to
although if you discriminate, i'm thinking you better be careful on what you do exactly because you can get sued. if you are not gonna hire someone, for example, don't be an idiot and openly say you aren't hiring them because of their ethnicity or their religion or their sexual orientation or something like that
