I hate politics! It is the one subject that is guaranteed to offend people. I try to avoid getting sucked in, but I just can't help it... Maybe it's because of the upcoming elections here in the U.S., but it seems there have been a lot of political threads lately (or threads that turn political without that being the O.P.'s intent).

I for one, am bowing out of all these arguments. I am pretty far to the left of most MFK'ers (or at least it seems so to me) but it really doesn't bother me - Everybody is entitled to their own view and it really would be a boring world if we all thought alike.

I found MonsterFishKeepers while googling "Pseudodora niger". I came here for the fish. I found that there was a lot more, a whole online community of people who love their fish and herps and love to talk about them.

I'm fairly certain I've never offended anyone (too much?) commenting on their animals, I always try to stay positive. I'm fairly certain I have offended people by commenting on their politics. For that I'm sorry. :)

I am totally offended by that. J/K I respect that because I know how hard it is to stay out of some of these discussions.
 
Yea, I try and keep my nose out of any and all politcal discussions. I just don't feel like arguing about it on here because I argue about it all the time, and its all that ever seems to get brought up in conversation.

Yeah but we're human.. and when we feel strongly about something sometimes it's hard to leave it alone. It happens. You want to try to keep self control, even stay out of discussions sometimes. But it's human emotion.

No one will ever agree on politics, religion and other similar things based on opinion. And it would be boring if we did.

Why would the mods close this? Aren't civil discussions allowed here anymore?
I honestly don't know whether McCain or Obama will win - too close to call.
 
I believe that one could ask you how fish relate to politics, as thread was started about politics in the lounge. If it were in any of the other forums, you'd have a case, but not really here, as it states "non fish related material" I believe.
 
Hell it hurts my feelings that we cant!

I dont see why we cant discuss politics here. Yes this is a fish forum but it is also the lounge and is for anything NON-fish related. I spend more time on MFK then any other site. It is a damn shame we cant discuss things like politics and religion because some ones feelings may get hurt.

There are a few, and a mean a few, people on here that I really respect their opinions and view points even if it is different then mine. In my opinion discussions with these types of people who could be from anywhere in the world will only better myself and I think MFK is great venue, at least for me, for such conversations. No matter how it boils down, we all have one common interest...]v[ONSTER FISH KEEPING!
 
I have a feeling that the politics will end up like the religion threads and come to a quick end. With punishment of death (banning) MFK has not been around long enough to deal with a presidential electon yet. So it will at the least be cool to see what happens and how they handle this.
