And aside from that they are the one of the messiest fish when it comes to eating. I have a 9 inch O, and I hate feeding him, because I know half the food ends up in his mouth while the other, ends up floating around the tank waiting to get sucked up in the filters. I do love oscars though, they have a humble yet menacing look to them. :D

I have 3 Oscars… I’ve had two of them for 5 years, the other for 4 years (but she was 2 years when I got her)…

The late comer is a 13” female, the other two are 12” males…The female lays eggs with a male, but they stay white (she’s tried with both males, same result)…

They live in a 300 Gal Rubbermaid…

i have one about 4" red right now. in the store, it was black w/ just some of the red showing on the edges of the scales...looked awesome, but now is a lot lighter. should get better once it gets rid of the ich and gets comfy after moving back to the 125 and then a bigger tank later down the road. I like oscars because of their personality and they usually arent very aggressive but can hold their own. I love tigers with small bright red "stripes", but I got this one instead cuz i "fell in love" with it in the store. if i could keep a jag in my tank, i probably would over an oscar, though.

had 12x 13" tiger oscars(grown them from 3-4") looong time back had to give them away as it was too much to handle
now have one 5" red oscar the most docile oscar i have ever had have housed him with 2 GTs of nearly the same size

9" oscar. First "monster fish".

Mine is getting to be monster in dimensions and fast, but not so much in personality - he is like a big, smart goldfish. The firemouth has a worse temper than the oscar, but then again nothing else in the tank is the size.
