Both parachromis pairs were around 5-6 inches...and uncharacteristically non-aggressive. I sold the dovii pair to a member here and he had the same experience with them as well.
After I sold the dovii and RTM pairs, I added the female to the tank, along with a 5 inch grammodes pair, at least 10 convicts, a fem festae, several catfish, 2 smaller trimacs and the Jag pair.
No, the jags werent spawning. The pictus was the last one that made it and I tried to keep it alive but it didnt make it. Again, this all happened between midnight and 8am.
heres some pics of the carnage and the tank it happened in, chock full of TONS of hiding space and caves under all the wood & rocks.

The festae roamed the tank but avoided the Jags and their area. I kept the Jag just a bit bigger than the festae by feeding them market shrimp - the festae did not seem to like it.
If the festae ever got the same size as or bigger than the male Jag, I would guess the Festae would kill the jag pair. The female Jag's survival was dependent on the male Jag.
Then the Festae started breeding... The male Jag figured it out and started filling in the nest of the Festae with gravel. No eggs hatched and all the fish started acting funny. I knew someone was going to die (probably the festae) since the male jag started pushing the festae pair tighter and tighter into the opposite side of the tank.
I love both pairs but did not have room to keep both...then the opportunity came to get baby beani and motaguense....decided to sell the pairs and start over. I've always loved motaguense and never saw those babies for sale. I have always heard about beani, so wanted to try them out.
So there's my $0.02.
