 why does no one like african cichlids?

They'll always have their niche, esp. frontosa but africans really should only be kept with other africans so it limits abilitys of people who want large communitys of species.

dats have always been a fav. here on MFK. I think more recently there was a peacock bass explosion, particularly the azuls etc. rays are always hot. tigs are always hot. asian aros are hot, but US just can't have them. Everyone seems to love CK.

Think if someone had a tank with all the above with a couple of extra oddballs, would make a great tank.

it is an i am looking at it know apart from the bass which i got rid of.
anyway i chose dats i just love them.

I can't believe more people aren't choosing Cichla, with the recent hoarding. Or maybe that was just Li. LOL

I picked the correct answer even though I don't own any. They look to me like a fw version of a Sheepshead porgy. African cichlids are more colorful and cheaper.

answers probably will depend on which fish is hardest to get by on specific locations.

sure arowanas are "hot" but theyre easier to get (except asians w/c is almost impossible to get) than those datnoids. ;)

cichlas seems to be the in thing to keep for some months now . Ill take a 12 inch st over a 12 inch cichla everyday. :)

Can't beleive guppies are at 11%, :screwy: Glad goldfish wasn't one of the choices.:nilly:

I think too many people are voting based on their preference, not what actually is popular. The fish I can't resist right now is big loaches, but I don't think they are anywhere near as sought after as Cichla or Datnioides.
