naw not a pollution problem, bad genetics or just evolution maybe they have been finding these thing for ever heres a sketch (its been "remastered" according to the site) the early sea monsters

It would be interesting to discover the actual mechanisms involved in this. It is obviously embryonic; if you can rule out the nuclear fuel cycle's high energy particles then the genetics are probably not a prime suspect. This sort of thing happens to frogs and is a result of the fluke Ribeiroia ondatrae. I wonder if this could be attributed to some sort of a parasitic agent.
