I don't have bichirs yet, just a rope. Bichirs will be soon a part of my home but after seeing these pictures... it has me really concerned. Just how common is it that bichirs eat their own kind? Worse yet, the ropes? My Beamer (rope) is my baby and now I'm worried she will get eaten. So many have assured me the 2 types of polys will be fine in a tank together but, whoa, these pictures...

It can happen with any species. Ive never had a poly eat another poly. Only polys that did eat a tankmate was a del snaking on some mollies.
That being said since you have ropes stick to the smaller upperjaws and no lower jaws and you should have nothing to worry about
