The size difference was huge in this case
It is, but you had a huge size difference between your tinkisso endli and your sen but they were together ok. Im just saying dont judge the fish cause of its rep or from what you’ve heard of experience before, of course its going to be the owners decision cause its a big risk, for me if i have WC UJ that can grow bigger than 10” and can have more grith than a CB it will be fine to be mix with LJ, but if im having a CB UJ that im not sure how much its going to grow then ill play it safe.

At the end of the day it comes down to how well fed your poly's are. LJ and UJ can be mixed no problem as long as they are well fed I have done this with my sens for ages only recently moved them to their own tank for a breeding project. You just need to use common sense and keep your poly's well fed if you want to mix UJ and LJ. For example I just bought a new albino sen for my breeding project. This guy is only 6 inches or less. If I chucked him in my upper jaw tank with upper jaws closer to 12 inch or more I am running a high risk. If I have not fed them in a few days and I put the 6 inch albino sen in I am just plain stupid and asking for him to be eaten....I put him in with 10-12 inch sens which is fine and I trust not just cause they are upper jaws but also because I keep them well fed.

The only problem I see with that analogy is that a lj at 10-12" is going to be near twice as wide with a much bigger mouth. So in essence you could say you trust the 10" sens more as it's going to be harder for them to eat a 6" sen then it would be for a 10" lj to. Otherwise you are correct and it's probably safe to say that either tank well fed and watched would be ok.

Agreed. That's why I felt like sens are the only real concern for me. The vast size difference alone was reason enough for me to split them up. At that size It has nothing to do with lower/upper jaw. It's just a big fish with a little fish.

Good point. Also thinking conditioning is plays a role. Big poly raised without live food is probably less likely to snack on a tankmate.

I don't understand this
" lj at 10-12" is going to be near twice as wide with a much bigger mouth"

Do you mean that a 12 inch jl is gonna be double a 12 inch uj ? Even if it is that doesn't mean it's going to be snack sized. Theresuch more to this than one fish being bigger than the other.

Endli is more than double the width of the teug. Pic doesn't show the true difference of the two.

So delware was much bigger than the teug.

Smaller del

Smaller teug

This size diff icultalmost comical. This endli beat the crap out of all it's tankmates. Aggression does not equel predation.

This del was raised with many LJs

This one too

This lap was much smaller than it's tankmates. Only issues it had was withy ornate who was aggressive towards all smaller Polys. This same ornate killed a smaller gold dust. Btw it never ate the dead fish just picked at it to death then left the corpse untouched.

I guess this is back at you because I don't understand what you don't understand. I'm saying a 10" sen and a 10" endli are two completely different size fish. The sen will be maybe half a thick and head size will also be much smaller ie smaller mouth and a 6" sen won't look so much like a possible meal if the 10"sen were hungry enough to go hunting. The girth of a 10" lj may be enough of a size difference to facilitate a possible snacking or trying to snack on the 6" sen. Remember 3 quotes ago you said it's just a big fish with a little fish? Well I'm pretty sure that' what I just said. Unless you are saying a 10" sen and a 10" lj are the same size? Yeah same length but noway same overall "presence" for a lack of a better term I've seen 10" endli easily as wide as 2 maybe 3 sens of that size. Comparitivly a 6" sen would fit easier in to its mouth then a fish that is only slightly girthier then itself. Length isn't the only factor in a big fish with a little fish. And like I said before which you seem to keep leaving out of my reasoning ...IF PROPERLY CARED FOR AND WELL FED IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM.
Thanks.

"I guess this is back at you because I don't understand what you don't understand"

Simply asking you to clarify that comment. I wanted to make sure I wasnt jumping to conclusions and you weren't trying to say a 10in lower jaw would eat a 10inch upper jaw.

"I'm saying a 10" sen and a 10" endli are two completely different size fish"

Do you have any real world experience with the above statement ? Have you seen that happen with other members ?

"The girth of a 10" lj may be enough of a size difference to facilitate a possiblesnacking or trying to snack on the 6" sen"

Again where are you getting this from ? I've posted several examples of the opposite. There's a difference in saying a 10 inch fish MAY (extremely unlikely) eat a 6 inch fish vs saying upper jaws shouldn't be kept with lower jaws.

"Comparitivly a 6" sen would fit easier in to its mouth then a fish that is only slightly girthier then itself"
Sens are definitely on the watch closely list. I already agreed with that. But your initial statements were not on sens specifically but in the upper jaws.

"And like I said beforewhich you seem to keep leaving out of my reasoning ...IF PROPERLY CARED FOR AND WELL FED IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM."

I'm not leaving anything out. You keep justifying your stance on the subject which is fine. I was responding to your response in post #213.

I'm cool with having a discussion and not agreeing but you seem to be getting offended. My initial post on this subject wasnt directed at any one person, that being said I find it interesting that your saying a 10 lj would eat a 10 inch uj or even a 6 inch uj. I don't remember your stock but if I'm correct most of your Polys are the same size (roughly) Where did you come up with this opinion if you don't have 1st hand experience.

When I say smaller fish I mean bite sized. Sure the risk is there keeping any fish of two different sizes together but if someone is going to say uj and lj cannot be kept together I'm calling b.s. and asking for proof lol

Disclaimer : this doesn't mean I'm saying keep a tiny cb sen with big lumbering ppb's or that issues can happen only that your more likely going to encounter aggression over predation

Tiny ornate with larger lower jaws. Polyaddicts ornate was 6 inches. Lower jaws we're between 10 and 14. All's good in the hood
