What are the dimensions on the 30g? I wouldn't keep a 6" ornate in there for more than a month.

should work pretty good. worst comes to worst, get a spair 10 gallon up quick with a sponge filter and grow the sen out another inch or so. i've found as long as the other polyp's are redicoulously small other polyp's would rather have an easier meal....although it doesn't work wiht feeder's....idk if they show some conspecific love or what the deal is....

Sorry, it's a 20L. It would be a temporary tank until I could get them into a 75 in May. I figured that the ornate could get to 8 or 9 inches safely in there- sufficient turning room on the sides.

well, i decided to give it a go and the sen always kept to itself and the ornate never seemed to even look at it, but earlier today, i couldnt find the sen and the ornate was laying where i couldnt really see it. then a little bit ago, the ornate came out and has a nice, long lump in its stomach...oops. i just hope he doesnt have any problems w/ the sen in its stomach. i got it from petsmart and was very small, so i'm not so worried about losing it but it always sucks when you lose a fish thats not SUPPOSED to be a feeder.

Thanks for the update, and sorry for the loss. The seller ended up selling the ornate and mokelembe before I could pick up so right now my seng is still solo.. I'm thinking about a small silver or jar for the surface of the tank though.. :-)

A silver and a jar will out grow ur 20L tank before May, and its too small (fish tank) to keep those (arowana) anyway :o

jars can be ok in a 180g for life, but will probably grow up and kill the other fish. a silver is going to need a bigger tank yet, but should be okay with big enough fish.

the digestion process went (or is going) smoothly (no more lumps) and the ornate is super plump now, lol. she was a little lax during digestion, but is back to her old self. do you think an 8-9" ornate could eat a 5" lima shovelnose?
