you know the stuff you buy at wal-mart...

I was wondering what you guys do when it gets dirty? do you guys wash it if show how is the best way. Or do you just throw it out and put in new stuff?

That stuff is so cheap I just toss it in the garbage. Not hardly worth trying to clean it.

hey i got a sack of poly fill fiber for pillows etc..
is this the right thing? i wet it in my hands and it was worse than petting a long haired dog with honey hands lol.
scared of it getting stuck in my pump.

I re-use mine since I use a lot. A trick I found was letting it dry out before doing anything with it. Otherwise, you can rinse forever and it just keeps coming out as brown water. But once dried, it seems a lot of that crap just falls right out on its own, and is way easier to rinse then.

i just toss it out. it seems as though the stuff will fall apart if i try to rinse it with the hose. its dirt cheap so im not too worried about it

Ok thanks guys, I just bought another bag of it today...

When it is wet and your hands are wet, it won't do that. When your hands are wet and it isn't, the difference in electronegativity makes your hands act sticky (the poly-fil stores static electricity and your wet hands act as a ground).

When it is in your filter, this won't happen. Except in HOBS, I use a backer of either foam or quilt batting. Especially when I get some that is short stranded.
