Hey, I currently have a 55g with only a 5 inch oscar. I've been recently thinking about getting a poly or more if i can. He and the poly/polys would be upgraded to a 100g rubbermaid pond during the summer. What would you recomend for a first time owner and would go best with the oscar. Also, this oscar is super mellow. He was in my discus tank for about 2 weeks while i found a replacement heater for his tank. Thanks.

dang, 18 views but no comments? Even some suggestions or experience with them would be appreciated.

My experience: Oscars and poly's don't make good tankmates.
what i've read on here: It's hit or miss.

Just watch how they interact with each other and that will be your best indication of if it will work or not.

Thanks for the warning. My oscar is really mellow. Do you think a ornate would work well? I found an 11 inch one on craigslist for $30 bucks. I'll have to upgrade to their 100g quicker but at least I won't have to worry about the oscar pestering him to much.

i have a fairly large sen abour 7-8in in a 75g tank with 2 13in oscars they seem to leave him alone just fine

thanks, i think i'm going to buy the ornate he'll have like 5-6 inches on the oscar. So he'll be fine.

ive seen plenty of oscars with polys its a good combo

i would go with a senegal or delhezi for a 55 gallon

Well i plan on upgrading them to a 100g in a few months. But instead of the lone ornate could i get two sens instead?

Two sens in a 55 is fine... Check out my sig. No issues so far.

As far as the oscar, it's hard to say... Sens stay considerably smaller than ornates.

What poly would work work best with the oscar?
