Ok this has happened before thought it was a result of my cincta biting his nose. It cleared up. Now this time while draining the fish tank for the weekly 90% water change this guy decided to swim up the siphon tube and for a while did not notice why the tank was draining really slow but then after 10 minutes noticed that the tank water hasnt move for quite some time. Decided to look more closely to see my poly is stuck in the dam thing.
Removed him from the siphon and now is nose is really red and some spots from behind his eyes. Is this common?IMGA0005.JPGIMGA0003.JPGIMGA0001.JPGIMGA0002.JPGIMGA0007.JPGIMGA0006.JPGIMGA0004.JPG

Wow he is very hurt!! Definitely add some aquarium salt to prevent infections. also add melifix to make ur bichir heal faster!

It's not a good idea to change 90% of your water every week. In the matter of fact, it's a bad idea!

Melafix isn't neccesary. Keeping the water clean and adding salt will be good enough. Good luck to you.

Really changing that much is harmful? my feeding is of fish filets which makes the water have higher nitrate? which ever one it is this is why 90% is changed. 90 % was a guess could be 80%
Also prime is added everytime. Do not see how its harmful but I could be wrong.

No, Its not harmful if you know what your doing.- just dont let your polys get stuck in the siphon again :D

Not the first time I have seen this happen, he should heal quickly.
