Poly Video w/Friends

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll probably end up going back to something like this before the upcoming summer. That's a goal to bring in rarer polys sizes 17" up.

Those are really some healthy huge polys:)
*** You'll see after they're larger. Feeding then 3 to 4 times a week is all u need. Their girth fluctuates depending on what day of the week, lol.

Thats great. I could sit infront of that for hrs. Do they do that often ?
*** The activity increases mostly at night. Swimming around by 2 or more occurs quite frequently.

How do you filter the tank and what is your water change regime? I see an FX5 in there
The fish look beautiful and healthy-what's the diet you give?

*** 1 FX5 (ceramic rings, and poly fill as media), WC 50% every 6-7 days, and primarily 1 fz tilapia every 3 days to feed 5 big polys and silver datnoid. Hikari gold large floating pellets every other day to the characins.

Love seeing them swimming around! Is this a 6 ft 180 gallon then?

*** It's an older oceanic glass tank. It's 6 feet x 2 feet, and 2" taller than a 180. So 190, 195?

All the sudden. The poly that I've owned the longest at about 2.5 -3 years is active. It all started after Wednesday. Posted the first time #38,#39. Just strange that this 19" ansorgii is not a log and only moving to eat and go up for air. Her demeanor has changed entirely. Swimming periodically with the lights on for an hour or two.

This happened after my chicken feed experiment a few weeks ago. She consumed a major portion of a raw drumstick. You know the feeling of owning a poly u think will never active. But then they do a 180 on ya. What do u guys think? Took this vid last night. Water still murky.

Probably the chicken give more energy?

Full Tank Shot. Exclude the clutter, lol. 5 out of 7 of my polys swimming around. Not bad.

for some reason this is my first time seeing this thread. I absolutely LOVE your tank. Polys, fish, gravel(looks like a salsa fiesta :p), and how you hung the anubias.

You mentioned that it was an "amateur job" with the zip ties and suction cups, but I think it looks great! Kinda looks like a 3D background and gives the tank a lot of height and depth. wow!I really want to emulate this look in my tank. Can I PM you about the procedure for the plant hanging? The way you have it looks so natural and blends in well with the background. If I did it, it would probably look like a hokey dollartree store version.
