So glad to finally have once more 8 of these cuties!

I got the African leaf fish ordered from Germany and the fish arrived in very good health.
Soon after being released in the tank some immediately started preying on some feeder shrimp while others went into hiding and another one was playing dead.

Had to house them in a 100 liter tank since at less than 2cms in length they cannot be trusted with 4 almost full grown South American cousins.

Their South American cousins (Monocirrhus polyacanthus).

they are "rounder" than nandus nandus.

very nice pickups!

nice fishes.

Thank you guys.

I have never kept any Nandus sp. but their behaviour could immediately tell them apart. The South American leaf fish are rounder as channarox pointed out and are facing downwards most of the time. They like being at the surface sometimes even on their sides. The South American can get to 10cms in length. Mine are already arund 7cms.

The African leaf are not trying to imitate a leaf all day and grow 7-8 cms. They prefer finding a hiding spot but would still be observant for any unsuspecting prey. These might look more like a Nandus but again, they are rounder in shape. Mine are still very small but already have a huge apetite.

Picture of an African leaf fish I owned before.

Ay help with finding a Nandus species (Nebulosus or slaty blue) in Europe. I placed a post in MFK Vendor Forum maybe someone is willing to ship to Malta (Europe).

Do you have the scientific name or a picture of the Crocodile pikehead. Try to google the name but din't find any matches.
