I would like to build an Indoor pond for some of my goldfish friends...

Has anyone ever used a polyethylene tarp? The idea would be to build a 2x4 structure to support it, but the tarp itself would be the waterproofing.

Any other suggestions would be welcomed

I am pretty sure those tarps are water resistant, not water proof.

Why not get one of those Intex pools or get actual pond liner?

Want to build a cheap "river" tank

2 by 10..ish...starting at 1 inch deep going to a foot...storage under the one inch deep section.

I say try it, if it fails, get an Intex pool and cut it up for a liner. Just be prepared to remove the tarp if it starts to leak.

I think I can get a standard pond liner for less then a intex, or similar pool system. Which is what i might just do
