What do you feed these in an aquarium?

My young specimens always did well on frozen daphnia, newly-hatched brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc. They also fed on FD plankton, gammarus, and flake foods (they learned to flip upside down to grab food from the surface. Larger specimens fed on slow-sinking pellets, brine shrimp, FD plankton/krill, chopped raw shrimp, sticks, etc. At 2ft, I've seen them take small minnows meant for their gar tankmates.

Is it legal to ship these across state lines?

For the most part; Yes. A few states don't allow their possession. The young available are Gov't restocking contract overages that the hatcheries are allowed to sell to private/fee lake/pond owners and to the pet industry.

how do you go about getting one? finding a hatchery?

um...you're in a vendor's thread and he's offering them for sale.

Don't look for a hatchery as an outlet for the hobbyist. For the most part, they all have minimum orders (usually 250 pieces).

haha i didnt even check. wow 250, thats alot of fish. good point. what would you say a single would cost?
