haha i didnt even check. wow 250, thats alot of fish. good point. what would you say a single would cost?

Don't want to derail a vendor's thread with any price ranges I've seen. Just wait for him to post his prices when the fish arrive.

My young specimens always did well on frozen daphnia, newly-hatched brine shrimp, bloodworms, etc. They also fed on FD plankton, gammarus, and flake foods (they learned to flip upside down to grab food from the surface. Larger specimens fed on slow-sinking pellets, brine shrimp, FD plankton/krill, chopped raw shrimp, sticks, etc. At 2ft, I've seen them take small minnows meant for their gar tankmates.

That ODDBALL woulda had a few of these~
Damn they would FLiP  UPSiDE down for food?!!?!
Thats just dope.
Dont they kind of remind you of those MEGAMOUTH sharks?

After Ted See's how many people are interested he should hop on this soon.

had these in Fl...not an easy fish to keep by any mean...the longest time i had one was with a sturgen which lasted for a month...

from what i remember these have a hard ime feeding in a big tank so i had to transfer to a grow out for a few weeks...

it is a cold water fish and does not like tropical water conditions...even the larger ones i've seen. had a friend that got one up to 3' in FL and it died when his AC broke...

regardless, it is a very cool fish and interesting to watch...never really stop swimming...would love to keep another but thinking about the pain of feeding a young one have me thinking twice...

they were around $20 in FL like 10 yrs or so ago...

can't wait to see pics...

I kept mine in 72-78F (depending on the time of year). Here in Louisiana, they're caught in rivers that can reach 80+F in the summer. As my tanks warmed up, I simply boosted aeration and water flow with a couple of additional 400gph powerheads

So am I correct in assuming that they do much better in circular tanks?

i heard the same thing too...the 3' my friend had was in a 300 gal rectangular tank but he was running a very high filtration pump which generated alot of current in the tank...

and i kept mine in a 125 after it grew out in a 20

i can picture a couple of these in JOhnPTC's tank.
