I also have a small chocolate pleco, is it a good tankmate for bichir?

plecos may suck on the bichirs slimecoat and usually aren't good tankmates

Plecos are a necessity for me, they keep all surfaces of walls, wood and rock clean for me. else I have to take pains.
But why does it happen, bichire are quite aggressive, right? Cant they keep off plecos? How about chinese algae eaters?

Bichirs really aren't too aggressive. Predatory, yes. Aggressive, no. Also, chinese algae eaters are just as bad, if not worse, than plecos.

Target feed your pleco's! Not many people do but it will keep them from latching onto your bichir. Think about it slimcoat=food so if there not hungry wheres the problem?

I saw a list that Anne posted somewhere in here (probably from one of the stickies) that listed compatible tankmates for bichir, and bristlenose plecos were mentioned. I just picked up a small one and so far no problems. But it still has plenty of algae to eat...

Apple snails may work too or if you can find some olive nerit snails much better, they eat like crazy and dont reproduce in fresh water :nilly:

I went to almost all LFS around and didnt find any polys....ended up buying 1 peacock eel. Polys are to arrive in a month or so. waiting.....
BTW I have a few loaches as well and I feed them apple snails very often.

Are my zebra loaches(8cm now) and e.maculatus(orange chromide about 9cm) safe with senegals in long terms?
