I have a spiny peacock eel, a school of boesemani rainbows, a school of angelfish, and a black ghost knife. Right now it's a 75 gallon but I'm upgrading to a larger tank. Could I get a polypterus of any kind or would he eat my eel? A senegal is probably what I would go for.

I had a senegal and peacock together for a long time. I had no issues

how big is the eel?

right now maybe 5 inches. Up to a foot full grown. I think I'm gonna go ahead and get a polypterus then. The final stock will be a black ghost knife, senegal poly, group of peacock eels, group of angels, group of boesemani rainbowfish.

polys will do very well with that stock, as far as a group of peacock eels i was under the impression that spiny eels were somewhat aggressive towards each other? if not would be awesome

I think most spiny eels are where peacocks are the exception. I've seen pictures of a group of them hanging out together like loaches.

Personally I think you'd be fine, if you're worried just make sure they're both well fed.

On the subject of the eels not liking each other, I've seen plenty of peacocks do well with each other. They almost act like you said, loaches. I've even seen a tank with a little school of maybe 5-7 peacock eels, a few I couldn't distinguish but were def. spiny eels, and 1 large fire eel.

All of the smaller spiny eels are group fish and also are fire eels. Only M.Armatus and M.Favus are solitary fish.
