mine is the most social fish in any of my tanks she always comes out when i come into the room

how in the world did you sex yours? i have been trying for so long and reading as much as i can, but i can't seem to get them. i can sex almost any fish, but these guys i just can't seem to figure out (clown knives are a pain too). how do you do it?

Its actually fairly easy the males anal fin is about twice as wide as the females see picture-Anne

ugh. i am still having some trouble. since they are able to fan-out and "shut" the anal fin, i can't tell how big it is. i took some pictures though.

sorry about the horrendous quality of the 3rd shot. that's my tiny regular senegalus. when you walk up to the tank he comes to the front and wiggles around. it was hard to get ANY of him.

but i did manage to snap what i think is a pretty cool picture of the smaller albino and the fat one trucking it in the background:

batray_girl: how big are your senegals? they might be too small to be sexed yet. your regular senegal is definitely too small to be sexed.

Just an added note......I find that the musculature is noticeably more developed right where the fin meets the body.

Some nice lookin young bichirs you've got there!
