  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what size are your bichirs and how many do u have? if u don't mind what did you pay for the ansorgi & the zaire green? :headbang2 :D

love your collection and hope u get the other ones u need!!:naughty: :grinno:

thanks ghost and burbotman!!

messiner, yes i assume they can get just as big as the other lower jaw bichirs, e.g. laps like you said. i think toyin had a 17" before. probably won't get as big as the congicus or bichir bichir.

thanks rasdbo! i have various size bichirs, from juvies to large adults. the zaire green is actually not expensive at all. the one in the pics is about 12". got it couple yrs ago when toyin first brought them in. i can't remember now how much it was, but it was average bichir price for that size i think. as for ansorgii, its the most i've spent on fish so far...still not as much as say a xback asian...i'd rather not say the amount if you don't mind :)

great looking collection:clap .............i only have an ornate, lapradei, and senegal but your collection definetly wants me to continue!!!!

ok thanks, are they officially a diff species from laps? or just consitered a varient?

Inf.... AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Koliba is gorgeous. Congrats on the new children - your new job is to get them all chunky :) ENJOY and post more pix especially when they all settle in ;)

What size tank do you have them in??

thanks dougefrest!

thanks keeper! they are in different tanks. one of them is a 60-65 breeder type tank i have my medium size bichirs in. i have taken some updated shots of the ansorgii. will have to look thru them and pick out a few good ones. will post them when i sort thru everything:)

messiner - as far as i'm aware, theres nothing official on the Koliba at all, and likely won't be for a long time. toyin called it sp. Koliba presumably after the collection region since he doesn't know what species it is exactly. from its looks, it seems to be similar to the bichirs in the P. bichir complex, but sometimes the pattern can be a little ansorgii-like, like the female i have. so is it a different species? subspecies? variant? or undecided? at this point you can choose whichever one you like :D

Koliba river(Guinea).

thanks for the info and either zaire green or a polli because i love the green coloration:nilly: :headbang2

Inf... is your Koliba eating like it's been starving it's whole life???

**stares at quickly disappearing silverside supply and rapidly thickening fish** Kevin's Xmas present is gonna break the bank eating like this.

i can see belly bulges after feeding, and i took a quick look at it eating one time....but in general, i don't know how voracious the 'hunting' stage is since i feed all of my bichirs pretty much in the dark.
