I just got a new poly, (delhezy). This is the first real poly I've had besides the more common senegal that I first bought from petsmart a few years back when I was still very uneducated about fish in general. Back then I tried to put the poor guy in a 55g with JDs and feed him coked turkey and lunch meet...I know its hard to believe he made it this far. I am not saying I'm an expert now but I have learned a lot in the past years and want to explore the hobby farther. So far I have been successful spawning africans, BNs, a pair ofJDs, and parachromis friedrichsthalii "yellow heads". I have also kept Cryptoheros Nanoluteus and am hoping once my females grow large enough I can breed one of them with my male. I know that this isn't too impressive but I'm working with limited resources and space.
Any way to get to the point I have been looking for something else to try to breed and nothing has come to me until I started asking about my polys in another recent post. my lfs has recently purchased 5x 6-7" of these delhezy and I was wandering if it is possible to sex these fish at there size and if so can they be successfully bred?

I mean, you could try.. but I think more likely than not it wont happen. Maybe if you had a big natural pond typed thing.. but still probably not.

Also how do they get young Delz? Are they captive bred or wild?

If they are small, young they are most likely CB.

The market is flooded with CB these days.

Well they were about 5-6inches long.. How do they CB them if no one else can manage to breed them? Like in big ass ponds or something?

I would love to get a big pond and have a few in there... Im kind of obsessive with Dels now :D

The store had to special order and the guy I worked with, (I've worked with him before), said the retailer had them listed as wild caught Congo.
