Polypterus eyesight?

Yeah,whitebait right in front of me,I`ll nudge it a bit.oops I cant find it now,oh there it is again,think I`ll try to bite it,oops I`ve pushed it further away,yahoo I`ve found it again,caught it this time,oh no its the wrong way round,I`ll turn it round in my mouth,oops I`ve spit it out again,oh well I wasnt really hungry.Unless your a congicus and you swallow fish sideways in one.
 
their eyesight are really poor. They feel for their food. Thats y they are night hunters.
 
haha....they are almost blind ....they just use their "nose" to smell the food out..... :screwy: :screwy: but they are cute when finding food...
 
Ive had many bichirs before, Ive noticed that in larger tanks they are better at finding food. Maybe in smaller tanks the whole water smells like the food they smell, so maybe they get confused. With feeder fishes, they will either chase them vigorously or stay seated and ambush. I notice when I throw in some crockets, ALL of the bichirs go in frenzy, instantly. They have very good sense of smell.
