I just bought two baby polypterus. Theyre both about 3" long. One is a beautiful endlicheri which still has external gills and was sold to me for a higher price than the other. The other, Im not so sure. Both were in a same tank full of endlicheris in the lfs. I bought the other because it looked like an ornate and was very cheap. When I got home and had a good look at it, it didn't match any of the descriptions on any of the polypterus species. I need help identifying it. I couldnt get better pictures because it just keeps hiding or swimming.:confused::confused:

Check out the stickies in the polypterus section. They are very informative and have answered most of the questions I've ever had about these guys. And no. A pleco is not a good tank mate for any poly. They tend to suck the slime coat off their scales.
