Yup an endli. And the reason it's super dark is probably because it's blind

How would him being blind contribute to the fact it's dark? Some sort of food deficiency? When I put him in my tank he was all over some blood worms. I have a felling he eats fine even though he cant see...

Wow, I think you overpaid then, I wouldn't have paid any more than 5 bucks for a fish in that condition.

okay well maybe I slightly over exaggerated, because he is well fed, active and overall "looks healthy" however I might have possibly overpaid. He really only has a minor split. But I collect defective pets so it's was personaly worth it to me as long as he survives and everything.... but eh it was kind of an impulse.

lol :) thats cool because I am happy with him. I think it's pretty amazing how he gets around all eyeless.

Do you have any pics of your dark endlicheri? I really like him just for that reason. I like "reject" fish haha. :)

oh and yeah, he is most definatly not healthy. He is missing both his eyes and he tail is split a few times. He came from a questionable pet store in china town. However I do not think the dark coloration is related to his health. I think it's just him.

Funny thing...I was just looking for some pics and he's actually lighter in his older pics, lol. He's a bit darker than the other 2 Endlis I have now. Here, he was bigger than the other 2...and now he's smaller than them.

Bichirs dont use there sight to find food, they mainly rely on there scent/smell. ;)

no not that. i was just saying it might have similar effect as you put an endli into a tank with black backgrounds/sides/bottom etc and the fish would turn very dark, and it being blind might have the extreme effect.

just an endlicheri. i suspect it's farm bred.
farm bred endlicheris lose their brownish tone genes somehow and turn greyish-blackish.
