What is the actual status? Is it considered an independend species now or still a subspecies of Pbb? My latest information was, that they are named Polypterus bichir lapradei?

yahh when i had mine to it seemed to NEVER come out..always hideing behind my driftwood an would come out from time to time to eat an then right back...kinda fustrating at times..but good luck an congradtz
I have 4 of them. Not very active, but not shy in the least. They have no qualms about lying in the open. They also eat like pigs. As soon as food hits the water they start searching for it.
