Polypterus legenderi

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I still think it's possible ;)

look at the info in the natural history stickie-Anne

Sooo the fossils of South America consisted of scales sharing the same make up of those found in polypterids which places them in the same family 'polypteriformes' but it definitely wasn't a bichir. :(

I just got schooled, and I love it! :D

but if you look at the point Africa and South America seperated providing you believe in the thoery of continental drift the rift occurs right in bichr territory so its not inconcievable that somewhere theres a polypteriforme waiting to be discovered

I wonder if there are any parts of South America in that region which are still relatively unexplored as say Borneo.

That's where I would look, even if finding a polypteriforme were to be a secondary goal, and merely cataloging anything new in a biodiversity survey were the primary.

I wonder if I could get discovery or national geographic to fund such an expedition lol

Let's do it! I have a nice camera and a film degree all we need is funding.

I need a biology degree lol perhaps if we contacted enough types of biologists willing to join in and write papers, we could get someone interested to fund it. :D
