Polypterus Mokelembembe?

Thanks for the replies,

after the hollidays I will try to get a better picture, my phonecamera is crappy :p. The mouth and eyes both have a dotted pattern, is that Retro-specific Dr. B or is there still a chance it is another species?
Only retropinnis have dotted eyes, and from the looks of your video you have a retropinnis. I also love your tank set-up

The OP bichir is infact a retropinnis but retros are not the only bichirs with dotted patterns on the eyes. They are also present on some weeksii, laps, endli, polli and ornates. More common in retros though.

Polypterus retropinnis that came from nigeria actually does not have a dotted ring surrounding the eyes and have a pointed snout almost polli like. Much more greener too.
Interesting have you ever had anyone of those with the dots around the eyes? and have you ever had a retro without the dots and with the polli like facial structure? They seem like very interesting traits

I had before during my export/import days. I'm also guessing probably because of the environment or prey item as the senegalus in nigeria also have pointed snout similar to polli.

Thanks all , I guess after searching Google for pics of retropinnis it would be one of those. Is it true its durability/longevity is shorter than that of a mokelembembe on average?

Thanks! I am going to move the Anubias Hastifolia which is on left front to next to the filter to create more hiding in the back. Besides that i am very proud and content with it now. And that after only three months :D

Home from christmas and missing a tetra (which was calculated since the males were small), one female tetra has what appears to be biting marks on the back (fleshy white) and my knife has an injured eye...

Polypterus the culprit, or something else? Water chemistry is ok...
