I also would be worried about those GT's, Once the ornates hit 6-8" u could maybe mix them in, but small bichirs are whimps and will not defend themselves cichlids may beat on them , and when very small they might become a snack.
Once the bichirs are larger the GT and ornate mix should be fine, ornates grow quickly wont be long before they are big enough to go in with the GT's.
I have kept bristle nose with polypterus as well. However I believe they are the exception to the rule

bristlenose is one of the only options. I believe they won't suck on the slime coat of the bichir. The thing is, bristle nose plecos are tiny and once the bichir outgrows that pleco, it will try to eat the pleco.
Bristle nose, hence name has a prickly nose which can seriously harm the bichir's internal organs when downed.
Thanks for all the info, Ive decided to wait until I get my 30 gal back up and cycled before I bring them home. I bought them today and they will be brought home in two weeks or so.
