Awesome pile! You inspired me to get a Senegal at my LFS. I'd been tossing the idea round for a bit.

Can I ask what type of bichir is the one with green stripes going down it's body? It's the 14th pic down after the albinos, the one on the right.
Most people start with senegal because they're widely available and cheap. The green monster in pic 14 is a lapradei. I don't what variant of lap it is. Maybe the bichir scholars would knows what it is.

And I just bought two more this month!:D:headbang2 I was informed they came from the same source as this giant lap. I cannot wait to see how these new ones will color up.

Yeah that green lap is sweet ;) Nice collection

Nice collection! You have any nipping problems? Im kinda new to bichirs. Mine dont nip each other but i keep them well fed. One of the most addicting fish imo.

I don't have nipping problems. All my bichirs are pretty nice to each other. They just lay there next to each other. It's like watching school of seals chilling on the beach.:D However, I had nipping problem when I had several ornates. Now I only have one ornates for that reason.:D

Thanks for the info. I only have 1 sen and 1 ornate so i guess ill get some others. They are in a cichlid community tank, is that safe? They are still small. Sorry to hijack your thread, this is the last question, i promise.

It should be ok as long as you don't see your cichlids nipping the bichir fins and tails. Bichirs are a also slow eater so you might have to make sure the food make it to the bottom of the tank before the cichlids get to it.

i need 1 of those big laps in my tank so i can see the coloration and contrast change from yours :) compare the difference in barebottom and mixed color sand, that would be tight, thats why im collecting regional endli, lap to compare the contrast, color, shape
