i tried the search button and the net and could not find what i was looking for. i am looking for life span and growth rate. my lfs told me to expect it to live for about 80+ years and take almost 15 just to reach its full size. is this true or does it vary for different polypterus's. i have a Polypterus senegalus senegalus in my tank now, its about 3-3.5 inches, very active lil bugger and i love it. im just wondering about growth rate and longevity.

2 years full grown, lifespan 15 years

i think most max out about 12", but can get larger

I don't know about 80 years, but bichirs are very long lived. Expect 12-14", and at least 20 years if you take real good care of it

i semi belived them because they have always been good to me, a few times they have told me not to buy certin fish at that time because of it being sick or problems with there tank, and i know that some fish live very long, there is that story of the lungfish in chicago that has been in the same place for 75 years now.

yeah 15+ yrs if you take good care of it. and max size in aquariums about 10"-12".
