How big is the Oscar? I have a 10" Oscar in a 75 and I doubt if he would allow a Bichir to live in peace. If the Oscar is small enough almost any upper jaw except for an Ornate or maybe a full grown Weeksii might work.

Anything big should work. My oscar doesn't mind any tankmate that doesn't look conspecific.

Had a big ornate with mine and no problems. Apparently the only thing they ended up hating was each other.

How wide is your 75 gallon? Most upper jaws would work well if it's 18" wide. Try to stay away from ornates, weeksii, teugelsi, and lower jaws.

My Oscar ate my senegal. The Oscar was @ 6"-7" and the senegal was around 4". I had the senegal in a floating breeder in the same tank. Some how the senegal came out and when I came home, the senegal was gone. :irked:
Should have waited until my other tank was cycled, then buy the fish.

i never had a problem with mine... but then i sold the oscar because i simply couldnt afford to keep it fed. only had a 8" senegal then, the oscar completely ignores it...

I`m keeping one couple of Astronotus together with laps, senegals, and malabaricus.
Only if they breed i find a kind of agreesion against the Polys, but that was far away from harming them.
