Where the fish are
Hey guys i have a 6" poly i picked up a few weeks ago and was curious on how fast it would be expected to grow with feeding on bloodworms every day and market shrimp as a treat. Thanks

Feeding just BW and Shrimps as treat is not that healthy ..... at the least it can be the other way around.... but if you want to see some good growth.... keep it varied and clean water... go through the stickies.... most of food questions are answered in there and also other threads.... Good Luck :)

sens depending on what you feed them water changes etc... can vary in growth rates. Mine had about a 2 inch growth spurt when i got him from the lfs about a year ago he was 3 inches when i got him and he grew 2 inches. from then to now he is about 5 inches. Some grow extremely slow and some grow faster it really depends on the conditions. They usually (for me) grow fast untill about the 5-6 inch range then slow down. Then they either have like a couple small growth spurts or 1 huge growth spurt.

Thanks gar88 that link gave me some good ideas. Id love to see this guy get huge. I think im hooked on polys

hahah welcome to the addiction ;) very soon u will start hunting for the other variants.... good luck

Im already on the hunt for all the other cool variations. I have a 300 gallon and im slowly stocking it. What kinds and how many do you keep together? And the sizes

There a lot of other interesting species but the problem might come that your sen doesn't grow fast enough and then one of the bigger species that grows faster (ornate, endlicheri etc...) will eat your sen unless you want to stock them all at the same size like all the upper-jawe species then add maybe a couple lower-jawed but if you do add lower-jaw i would definantly wait till your polys are at least 6-7 inches because once you get the orantes and endlis they will grow so fast that the other polys will be the food source. The cool thing about polys is there is always things to learn and the fact that they came from dinosaurs could mean that there is something even more amazing waiting to happen. But like gar said welcome to the addiction lol :)
