polysterus with large gold fis?

Goldfish are food. My 7" Albino Palmas has killed several that were far too large for him to eat. He just bites their faces and kills them.

Yours might not be big enough to eat them yet, but that won't stop them from trying, because goldfish are like sheep.

i dissagree i have a large gold fish hows been in with a senegal for a wihle and has his fins only one chunk missing from me when i move him

Only one chunk missing? You have to have goals, I guess. LOL

I have 3 feeder goldfish that somehow survived in my bichir tank. They have been happily living in the tank now for the past 6 months. So sometimes it depends on your bichir's personality whether they will decide to have something for dinner or keep them as pets. But overall I wouldn't put goldfish and bichirs together since they do require different temps.

Very nice pic! The idea of poly's keeping feeders as pets is great :D

That's amazing. My Polys would never allow goldfish to co-inhabit their tank.

Originally bought 20 feeders. I put half in the tank and this 3 survived. Then I put the other half and still left this 3 uneaten. Don't know why that is. Maybe they're saving them for when they get big and fat?

Also do you have pics of your albino palmas? Most albinos that I know of are albino senegals. Some distributors and LFS do label albino senegals as albino palmas.

mine is a feeder also it was one that survived and was growing up in a 20 now hes in a 55 with the bichir till i move him again to another 55 p.s i hate that stupid thing it keeps lufting up my plants and eats EVERYTHING i put in there like once i was feeding them rosey reds and my needle fish grabed the rosey and shock it then for some reason he let it go and then that stupid thing saw it floating and sucked it up and eat it, it did this again with one that was still moving

mine tend to harass goldfish constantly even when they're much too big for them, then again, for a fish they're pretty smart, they have strong personalities and mine happen to be little jerks to even big goldfish, and once in awhile their mouths will shock

 I'm pretty sure if you're gonna set goals for fins not eaten a good number to aim for would be zero but maybe that's just me...:screwy:

but do gold fish also do well if I just keep the water temperture arond 78-82? Are they hardy fish also, thanks for the advice:)

Davo's right mate i wouldn't add any gold fish in with any tropical fish nor would i feed any gold fish to tropical fish simply because gold fish live in copper loaded water and tropicals don't, also gold fish are kept in really cruddy tanks in LFS and are more susceptible to fish diseases.
