slightly off topic but have you considered an FX5? You can buy one on ebay fo 200 plus 20 for shipping and they are great for mechanical. Since replacing a filstar xp3 with an fx5 on my sumped 180 my maintenance has been cut way down.

I just might drop down on my knees tonight and make love to my new fx5.

I paid $100 for a BioForce 2000 and $100 for a 1800 gph pump for it...

This gave me about double the flow rate (actual numbers) as the FX5 and about double the media capacity of the FX5...

While your humping your FX5 turn around and say hi to Fluval while they are getting you from behind...

(sorry for the joke... but I had to  No offense)

Damn, that's a deal. You found that used, I take it?

It was all new... But about 5 years ago through a LFS that I was good friends with the owner...

Current Internet Prices would put the same Combination a bit over $300 new... which is 50% more than the FX5... but for 50% more cost you get 100% more result...

I'm not saying the FX5 is a bad filter nor it's a bad deal... I'm just saying before ya start humpin the thing realize there are other filters worth considering humping...
