Has anyone ever used a pond filter on there tank?

i am sure many people have .....yet in 2006 R tank filters rule over many ponds and seas...what do u THINK the best filter is?

I like not having an impellar inside of the canister plus it has an internal uv sterilizer. All I do to clean it is flip the knob on top and it backflushes the filter plus drains the tank at the same time for a water change. I take it apart once a year to do a thorough cleaning and replace the uv bulb. Takes me 5 mins to clean filter and do water change.

I have 2 different tanks that have a Ocean Clear model 354 polybead filter on them with external pump. They do wonderful mechanical and bio, and easy to clean, hook up a garden hose for your drain, close 2 valves and open a third, and backflush. Done!

Hmm im look into pond Filter for my 1600Gal pond. How does this thing stand up? I was told to have a moving bed filter with one settlement off of a bottom drain. beside the point... where is the pump on this thing? I was told to never had the pump befor the Filtering part cuz it can turn poo into puree which is harder to filter. Is that true? Oh any Anyone use this on ponds?

I would be really interested in some replies as well. There are not many stories about people using pond filters on the web.
And to be honest, i recon there is a point where a tank (or indoor pond) becomes to big for your average tank filtration or even a wet/dry. As a wet/dry for a 1,000G+ tank would have to be pretty damn big...

go to doctor foster smith. They have all kinds of pond filters with and without uvs included. Once you get a large tank or pond they are definatley worth it. As you research you can see that you can get a much bigger pond filter for the price of an aquarium filter. They also have seperate bio filters if you want. I will always use a pond filter on anything over 150 gallons. You can buy the size pump you want and control flow with a ball valve when you plumb it. With pond filters too you can either put the pump prefilter or post so that it will either push the water to the filter or pull it through which ever you decide. On mine I have a mechanical prefilter before my pump then my canister filter then back into tank. There are so many options.
