make it bigger and dont get the preformes liners, they dont have sloped sides and it may be difficult for the turtle to get in and out....well out atleast. also turtles wont run away if they are free to roam, they know where the water is. so id say make it bigger, about 2'+ deep and around 4x7 or so.

Just curious ..but how do you know they won't roam? I would be definitly afraid of losing my guy if he decided to go for a stroll.. don't they eventually look for mate etc.. just curious how you know..never heard this before..Liz

Snappers do good in ponds. Like above you will definately need a fence. They are good diggers and climbers. You can use the liner for a pond, which will allow you to make it deeper and wider. Make it with different depths and cover the bottom with gravel and the sides with larger rocks/boulders. The slider should be fine as long as it bigger. He how ever does need a basking site where as the snapper does not.

45 mil. liner would be ok with a turtle. thier claws arent that sharp.

if you think you need a fence then build a fence...a turtle is like any other animal, they like to explore and they always know where the water is as long as they where put their first and not dumped in the yard somewhere.

also stock it with goldfish so it has food incase it get hungry during the night or whenever turtles feel hungry.

Their claws aren't that sharp!!!! Are you kidding me! I have a 5" little guy ate the moment that I will be letting go... but his claws (for his size) are very long and very sharp! And snappers get HUGE
