I'm looking into how i'm going to heat it? it's 8x8x2.5.... Any ideas would be sweet if you have any links for 500-1000 watt heaters please post them up thanks for all the help! :) btw it will be all Ray's

aquaticeco.com large heaters there...

Be sure and use heater guards if it's a ray tank unless the heaters aren't going to actually be in the tank. In the sump? Inline?

If you want, maybe you can use a water boiler connect with a "U" shape garvanized pipe to circulate the hot water in the pipe, drop a temp. censor in the pond to connect with the thermostat, once the water is heat up to your required temp. it will automatically shut down, when temp. dropped,it will re-start again. More "U" piece can be used if you required to heat up more ponds. I done this many years ago when I was in down under.

If you use plently of insulation you don't need anything more than some Stealths. My pond is roughly the same size as yours..... I use 4 Stealths in a sump and am able to run up to almost 90 degrees......... The key is the insulation. I used the 1.5 inch thick pink stuff.... Bottom, all sides, then cover it at night with 2 sheets.

Did you just pack it around the sides? Or is there more to it?

The pink styrofoam stuff.... Not the fiberglass rolls..... I just built the frame out of wood then lined the inside and bottom with the 4 by 8 sheets of this stuff. I didn't line the inside with any plywood..... I just used a 2 by 4 skeleton with the styrofoam layed in directly on the 2 by 4s. Basically I built the frame then instead of sheeting it with plywood I used the styrofaom insulation..... Then the liner. When walking barefoot on the stuff it feels heated.....LOL When I did my test pond in the winter it was 500 gallons and despite my basement being like 60 degrees I was still able to keep the 500 gallons above 80 with only 2 250 watt heaters. The 150 gallon ag vat took 4 heaters to stay above 80.
