Pond height for gars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Either way they may need an upgrade in the future, width and lengthwise and in depth.

But for now, I would aim for wider and longer versus deeper.

um like 12'x5'x24' and dont forget to do the top with boarding with some chicken fence..it works good..

Oops, I missed that part. In that case, I agree that the 18" depth will work, but the future length and girth of the gars should be taken into consideration if you want to keep them in this pond long term.

Just looking for a short term housing for now. Come spring/summer time I will be looking to set up an intex style aboveground pool for them.

If you're only looking for 6-8 months of use out of this, then either one would probably work. If you're looking at it possibly being longer term than that, I'd definitely go with the longer wider pond vs. the extra 6" of depth.

I'm leaning towards the longer wider one myself. After the gators are upgraded I would probably use this pond for my floridas which I can't see the height being a problem for them.
