Its the winter of 2013-14 and I decided I want to make a thread about pond hockey and how I form my rinks on my pond. So currently at my house in ny the ice is ranging from 4"-8" and me and my little brother made a decent sized hockey rink on it two days ago. The rink Is like a full sized hockey rink and it is very smooth as we flooded the rink and then it rained so it is as smooth as possible. Every hour or two of skating tommorow will have a break with a resurfacing in between. I use a soaking wet towel tied to some 550 paracord tied to my belt and pulled by me skating. Its a very cheap way of smoothing and resurfacing the ice. But tommorow I will be playing hockey almost all day. I bought a new pair of skates and a new stick today and skated on the pond for about 1 1/2 hours alone and used my cheap homemade net before I buy a new one. Its just a heavy duty wooden pallet for now until I pick up a new net. Has anyone else started playong pond hockey yet this year? I can't wait for tommorow to break in the new skates and stick. Ill post on another post pics of my new stuff in a few.
