Here's a couple snaps of my Jack, hanging out with one of his Jungle Perch mates. They've been living together for four years now without any problems, so it is possible to co-habitate jacks with other fish under the right circumstances. The jack is now about 18 inches (45cm) long. These pics are pretty ordinary due to the sunlight reflecting off some sediment stirred up in the water. I'll try to get some better pics when the light is lower. IMG_0079.jpg IMG_0079.jpg IMG_0082.jpg IMG_0123.jpg IMG_0128.jpg

His colours unreal, top looking fish if mine grows into anything like that I'll be stoked. Was your wild caught?

Four years huh?......How big was it when you first got it,is it in full freshwater and has it been so all along?

Yeah 4 years more or less. If you search my previous posts you'll see pics and videos from when he was a youngster (I just had a quick look and you've commented on those posts at the time). Got him at about 12cm.

To start with I mucked around with adding salt to the pond but he's been in pure fresh water for the last 3 years. In nature they move into saltwater to breed as they mature but they can live and thrive quite happily in fresh

I was under the impression that they moved to salt full time as adults. It looks like either that is not true or they don't necessarily need to at all which is a good thing from a keeper's standpoint.

They are probably capable of living in Either

Yeah I think it's more the case that they can live in fresh or salt but need to access salt to breed.

Rhyno8 I got him off a guy who couldn't look after him. Not sure if he was wild or bred. Either way this is what you're looking at in a couple years. My pond is around 700 gal and I'm looking at enlarging it soon - aiming to double the size and maybe put a barra in there as well. I've had a barra in there before but they grow so fast (and big) they are not suited to a small pond, particularly with other fish.

How big is your tank?

Yeah nice, I cant get over the colour all the photos I've seen from aquarium there alot greyer. He's currently in a 5x2x2. Not sure if a ponds doable for me Tassie cold, I'm thinking of a large fibreglass tank with window or I'll build a concrete tank.
