Pond Jack (Lutjanus Argentimaculatus)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah mate a pond down there would be a pain. You'll be right for a couple of years, maybe 3 with frequent water changes. He'd probably want an 8 footer after that though. They don't need a lot of swimming room being ambush predators. Need to be onto the water changes though

I was under the impression that they moved to salt full time as adults. It looks like either that is not true or they don't necessarily need to at all which is a good thing from a keeper's standpoint.

Yes I believe once they mature and move offshore that's where they stay. They don't need to move to the salt to live though, only to breed.

What a lovely beasty

Top shelf pal. Love your jack. Need my jack to find his balls like that now and all will be just fine.
Also! Hope that fish never catches your hand instead of the prawns.

They are surprisingly shy fish and it took me months to train him to hand-feed like that. You could train a Barramundi to hand-feed in three days! Yeah I'll try to keep my fingers out of his mouth.

Mines shy at the min but he's getting there. I moved him into another tank pissed him a bit he's feeding well mind you. But I want him to gain confidence like yours..feed Umbees and Dovii by hand for years! But it's not like when a jack goes in for food. I really like them.
