Pond progress

I started the pond two days ago it is 8 feet long and three feet wide we have a deep end and a shallow end for the turtle the middle is a bout a foot and the deep end is about 20 inches deep. the shallow end is about 3 inches deep not including a five inch lip. the filter is for tanks up to 500 gallons the brand is garden treasures the actual pump is inthe deep end whith a watterfall on the shallow end.it is not done in the pics and it is not done yet, not by a long shot but i hope to finish it in the next couple of days.
i dug it and then it rained really hard... oh well it softened up the dirt

i am lining the pond whith a thick plastic sheet doubled up. the turtle is a Yellow-spotted Amazon River Turtle, Podocnemis Unifilis. it is a young male.

I would consider making the pond a liitle wider and deeper, if space allows. In Brazil, the summer temps. may cause some high water temps. Deeper water will allow the fish a cooler spot in the pond for a little relief.

unfortunatly i can't make it deeper i am well aware that it would be much better but it just isnt possible. there will always be shade so that may help. that is also why we designed the pond so that the filter and waterfall circulates cooler water throughout.
i finished digging and completed the lip later today i will put the black liner in and start the filter. i have a question. i need to put fish in the pond by saturday. if you want me to explain why i can. how do i cycle it in time???
