3,000 gallons, that’s nice but you’re not thinking big enough, have you ever considered a moat around your house?

On a serious note you’re lucky your cat will hunt mice, mine are afraid of them. Also I love what you’ve done with the pond.

I'll work on getting some pics, although it's not much to look at. I hadn't even planned on having fish, just wanted a quiet place to sit and observe the tadpoles, aquatic insects and other interesting little critters that naturally find their way into a small body of water. My wife snuck a dozen bait-shop minnows (fatheads) into the pond its second year and I kind of liked having them so I put some out each spring. The fatheads breed like mice, and it is amazing to watch the males guarding their nests along the bottom like little cichlids or bass.

Koi are beautiful, but I think of them more or less the same way I look at boats: I love having friends and neighbours who own them so I can enjoy them occasionally, but I sure don't want to maintain them myself. :)
Haha, they can be a bit of work. And that totally sounds like me when it comes to livestock. (Minus fowl of course☺) Some animals are nice to see but more work then we personally want to take on. ?

We'll look what I received in my mailbox today lol a Pond Catalog.

We have been pondering not leasing our land anymore and digging another pond. Or digging a larger pond out by my husbands shop. ? Then I could keep this pond as either a grow out or just for my more favorite and friendly koi.

A few new additions to the pond.
Some may have read my panic post about my shipped koi. I never posted a picture of them, so here they are:)
There are two chagoi, two hi utsuri, two bekko, one ochiba, and one shusui(he was my surprise free koi) I didn’t get the Karasu I really wanted and unfortunately they didn’t have the Shiro utsuri I wanted either. But they are all beautiful. I really love my gold chagoi.

My husband also surprised me with these adorable little statues ?

I thought it would also be fun to show what started fishkeeping for me. This little puddle of a pond. 39646C47-2A71-4988-BB4C-6E4286202B0A.jpeg

Very nice pickup and the statue is perfect for the pond.

Thanks!

I love how they blend in color wise and are just the right size? They even fit perfectly on the same rock together! Haha. I used silicone to keep them in place. With three dogs, kids, wind, and critters I didn’t want them falling in or getting broken.

It’s been years since I’ve setup the fountain my mom gave me. I thought it would make a nice place to grow plants away from the fish.
